Here's to my very first post!
Started 2016 off with quitting my job and—let me tell you—it was the best decision I've ever made. I had no back up plan or a job lined up. I knew I had to take advantage of this time one way or another. Needless to say, I did find a job during this time (I'm actually starting Monday!). Anyway, Kyle (my boyfriend) and I decided to be spontaneous and make use of my time off and take a trip up north to Carmel, Monterey, and Big Sur, and then visit our best friends in San Francisco (but I'll save that for the next post because they deserve their own :P).
After visiting Julia Pfeiffer, we went over to Ewoldsen Trail to hike and sightsee. The scenery, the trail, the bright greens and the air were all so refreshing. You don't see this much in the city. The way the trees grow and the moss to the little streams were all so beautiful. However, sad to say, during this hike, I realized I am not much of a hiker. I powerlift, I can't do cardio to save my life! So we ended up only staying about an hour here. But if you're into nature and hiking, this is a must if you're ever in the area! And yes, I had to hike in my Uggs.
After being out all morning, we needed a little pick me up! Stopped by this cafe that is located literally right off the highway for a quick cup of coffee. They have outdoor seating on the second floor that overlooks the highway and the ocean. The environment here is very tranquil and relaxing and the guests are very respectful of that and used indoor voices.
If you plan on visiting Asilomar State Beach in January, make sure you pack heavy duty jackets! I wore four layers and double layered my socks and was still freezing! You'll want to bring a windbreaker too because it gets very windy. But for this view, freezing my butt off was totally worth it!
