LABOR DAY WEEKEND!

Hi there! It is Sunday and I am dreading going back into work tomorrow. Wah! But you have to adult when you have to adult. So last weekend was Labor Day weekend and whenever we have the chance for a mini trip, we always try to visit our best friends, Beca and Daniel in the Bay! Usually Kyle and I will just drive up but this time we flew and seriously, I don’t ever want to drive to the bay ever again. Flying takes about 45 minutes from LAX and saves SO much time. Well, obviously.

Whenever I tell people or my coworkers that I am going to San Francisco, they think we’re going to be doing a bunch of touristy things. But for us, we go just to visit our friends and spend quality time with them. So it was nice to be able to just relax and just hang out with them even if it is just being at home and lounging around. So if you know me and Beca, there is no complete trip without GOOD FOOD. So keep reading to see what we were up to all weekend!

Daniel picked us up from SFO and headed straight to Beca’s for some bomb ass pizza! Every single time we visit, we always get Cheeseboard. This pizza place is located in Berkeley and I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this in my previous SF blog post earlier this year. If you’re in the area, please go try it because your life won’t be complete without it. They also have gluten free options if you’re allergic like Kyle!

Saturday morning, we got up pretty early to get coffee and brunch with Daniel before he had to go into work. So Daniel and Kyle are complete coffee snobs. They like that high end $10 for a cup of coffee kind of places. Lol, I’m just kidding. But they are snobs and Daniel swears by Blue Bottle. You can’t go a day without him talking about Blue Bottle. So we headed there for a quick cup of coffee!

Headed over to La Note for brunch. This place is a French style restaurant and it has a very “home-y vibe” to it. I got the two egg breakfast with chicken apple sausage. Sometimes, I just love a simple and hearty breakfast.

Stopped by Artis Coffee and Daniel picked up juice for us. Look how pretty and colorful they are! It was so refreshing!

So there is pretty teahouse out in Berkeley called, Asha Tea House. They specialize in all sorts of teas and boba. I love their boba because it’s so chewy and fresh!

Afterwards, we headed towards 4th street to walk around before heading to dinner. For dinner, we had Noodles Fresh and it’s a Chinese cuisine restaurant. I absolutely love noodles. Noodles over rice any day. What is so awesome about this place is that they have gluten free options! It is really difficult for Kyle to find good gluten free Chinese food. Especially the authentic kind. Everything about this place is so good!! I loved all the dishes we got. Highly recommend the Hainan chicken and the beef stir-fry noodle dish. Ugh, I would be so happy if this place opened in SoCal!

For dessert, we headed to Uji Time Dessert. If you’ve been to Kansha in Torrance, they serve a similar dessert like the Matcha Parfait. But instead of ice cream, it is soft serve. Picture below is the black sesame soft serve on a waffle cone.

Sunday! Our last full day here. So sad. This time, we headed out to Walnut Creek. First stop was Coffee Shop! This place serves a coconut-orange latte and okay, I don’t EVER consume anything with oranges in it. EVER. But I tried Beca’s orange-coconut latte, and okay, it was really good. LOL. I didn’t taste any oranges at all. It was sweet and perfect for a hot day. Anyway, try it if you’re in Walnut Creek.  After, we went over to Main Street Kitchen for brunch.

After brunch, we made our way to Broadway Plaza for some shopping! It’s a nice outdoor mall! Reminds me of The Grove or The Americana. It was surprisingly really warm out towards that way.

For dinner, we went to Gogi Time for some KBBQ!!! This place reminds me of Gen. Pretty good! I would have posted a picture but I was literally too hungry. Sorrrrry! (KBBQ pictures aren't really pretty anyway!)

So our flight was super early Monday morning. Daniel took us to Four Barrel Coffee before we headed home since it was close and on the way. This was our first time trying Four Barrel and the atmosphere of this coffee shop is dark and dim. The worker didn’t seem very happy- but then again, we came around 7AM. If I had to choose between this place or Blue Bottle, I'd say Blue Bottle.

Kyle and I arrived back in LA around 9:15 am and oh my gosh. We were so tired! You always need a vacation after your vacation, I swear. My little sister’s birthday this year landed on Labor Day. So we ran our errands and prepared for work the next day pretty quickly so we can make it in time for her birthday dinner. I’m not sure why, but every time after an eventful weekend, I always feel like I need greens in my body. Like a good green smoothie and the perfect place for it is Whole Foods. I am obsessed with their smoothies!

For my sister’s birthday dinner, we went to Pacific Fish Center and Restaurant at the Redondo Beach Pier. We ordered a few pounds of shrimp, a medium platter of sashimi, this Korean soup and octopus.  It’s a good place if you really just want to eat  wholesome seafood.

This weekend just flew by!! But like they say, time flies when you’re having fun.  But that is what life is all about, making the most out of the time we have. Can’t wait for the next three-day weekend!
